About Us

Colin

Howdy All,

My name is Colin Martin and I am 24 years old.  I like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain... Well I don't enjoy being caught in the rain. Since finishing High school I spent 5 years working with Qantas Engineering as an Avionics Engineer.

My spare time is spent riding motorcycles, snowboarding and anything else that sounds fun. Not only am I excited about Winter in Canada but I can't wait for Summer, horse riding is something I am keen to be a part of over there and many other summer activities. So lets get this Adventure underway!

Jess

Hey there!

I'm Jessica Spry. I'm 22, have blonde hair, blue eyes and like long walks on the beach. I just graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelors of Communications in Advertising and Marketing. I have been studying for 18 YEARS! It's now time for a massive change! Although I loved uni and all the experiences it came with, I am definitely not ready to sit behind a desk for the rest of my life!

A bit about me.. I love art - it is my favourite past time to just sit back and draw, paint or design. I am in the longest reading session of my life with A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R Martin. I love to run and have been snowboarding for a few months now- hopefully going to get amazeballs at it in Canada! I want to learn to Ski, I want to travel the entire world and have a whole lot of crazy amazing adventures!

How we got here?

Well, when a mummy loves a daddy they take off... oh wait thats a bit too far back..

We met in 2006 and have been best friends forever (bff's) ever since! It was a long road of break ups until we finally realised that romantic comedies can be real and you can fall in love with your best friend! So we became a couple in 2011 and have been loving life ever since! We have had our adventures together, notably a 24 hour trip to Movie World , a trip to Thailand and most recently we spent winter working at Ski Rider Hotel  in Kosciusko National Park.

In 2012, I had officially found out I was graduating from uni and was on the search for work. I was just about to walk into a job interview when Colin called me and said he had an epiphany. He told me to not take the job because I couldn't refuse his proposal. When I arrived home, Colin was there waiting with his big goofy grin! Qantas was making cuts and was offering their engineers to make a voluntary redundancy with a lot of nice benefits to go with it. The idea was, to take a redundancy, for me to not take a job in Aus and to make our way to Canada to work in the Rockies. He was right, I couldn't say no and from that moment, we have been planning this trip!

It was a lovely friend at Student Flight centre who recommended we go through the Working Holiday Club. Jake was in contact with us promptly and from there we had a phone interview, two Skype interviews, organised our VISA's, our work contracts, did a lot of research and even planned a small road trip through the West Coast of America. Jake and Julia have been amazing helps to us in the process of finding work and organising ourselves for our up coming adventure! Colin and I both have positions at Lake Louise, I am a cashier and Colin is a lifty!

And so our adventure begins! We have 2 weeks before we leave for LA!!
